Jose Villa’s workshop is the only workshop I have ever dreamed of attending. I finally got the chance to attend one in 2014, pretty much at the start of my photography career. The workshop was held in Jalisco, Mexico at a very remote hacienda—simply a dream. As a destination wedding photographer I was not only excited to meet Jose Villa in person, but also to explore Jalisco and the surrounding Guadalajara area!

Jose Villa and his dream team put together several amazing Mexico engagement and Mexico wedding inspirations for attendees. This dreamy styled shoot in Mexico took place at the beautiful Hacienda Labor De Rivera in Mexico. Arai, our bride, wore a stunning Galia Lahav wedding gown with pretty lace, pearl detailing, and illusion paneling on the sides. A gorgeous bouquet from Sarah Winward complemented her look. Arai’s hair and makeup was done by the very talented Mar from Team Hair and Makeup.

The wedding ceremony featured a white paper backdrop called Papel Picado designed by Karina Puente. After posing in the ceremony location, Arai and Felipe walked around the many beautiful locations scattered around the hacienda. My favorite location was the gate—it was the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits of the bride and groom. As sunset approached, we left the hacienda and toured around Jalisco. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience wandering through the woods, which were dotted with a mix of trees and cacti. In this unique location, we created beautiful portraits of the bride and groom with a cute “Just Married” sign from Anne Robin Calligraphy.

Up next: a lovely reception with a dreamy tablescape prepared by Laurie Arons. Laurie is a famous wedding planner based out of California, and I simply adore her work! For the tablescape Laurie used Casa de Perrin, a china and tableware company that offers unique porcelain patterns. Candles from Creative Candles helped to set a romantic mood, and a classic white cake with greenery from Sweet and Saucy Shop was the perfect finishing touch. Every detail was meticulously planned and executed flawlessly. It was a perfect Mexico destination wedding!

If you can’t get enough of Arai and Felipe then head over to their stunning Mexico engagement session too!
