Both Ivy and Michael are medical doctors, and at the moment, Michael is in California while Ivy is in Colorado. They decided to tie the knot in downtown Denver at a modern, urban venue called Skylight. To announce the Big Day, they first booked an engagement session in Vail. Take a peek at their portraits and discover more amazing locations for taking Colorado engagement pictures here!

Ivy got ready at the Maven Hotel in Denver, which is one of my favorite Dairy Block hotels. Adorned with floral ornaments, Ivy’s strapless Anne Barge dress was the perfect choice for the couple’s modern yet elegant wedding theme. A stunning updo complemented her classic bridal look.

First Look at Denver Botanic Gardens

Ivy and Michael decided to go for a first look, which I always recommend if tradition allows. The Denver Botanic Gardens provided us with countless beautiful backdrop options for capturing this special moment. Our session began in the ornamental grass garden which features lots of feathergrass. On this beautiful fall day, the feathergrass made for very romantic images!

From the ornamental grass garden, we headed to the Succulent Garden to photograph the wedding party. Bridesmaids wore grey dresses in various silhouettes and the groomsmen all wore black. After wrapping up images of the wedding party, we took the opportunity to capture a few more portraits amid the romantic garden atmosphere. Michael surprised Ivy with a letter that made her burst into laughter. It was a wonderful surprise and so much fun to capture on camera!

Ceremony at Our Merciful Savior Episcopal Church

Ivy and Michael chose to hold their church ceremony at Our Merciful Savior Episcopal Church. Bello & Blue decorated the interior of the church with white flowers and greenery and made sure that every detail of the day ran smoothly.

Reception at Denver Skylight

At the reception, Bello & Blue turned Ivy and Michael’s venue into a floral dream! The ceiling was adorned with stringer lights, greenery, and white blooms to create a romantic look that matched the ceremony. Wood tables were accented by centerpieces in similar hues. Hints of blush and modern steel chairs completed the modern, elegant look of this Denver Skylight wedding.

Last but certainly not least, Ivy’s grandmother prepared 150 handmade cranes for the wedding. The detailed handiwork of these cranes blew everyone away. It was evident how much work she poured into each and every piece that was crafted for her beloved grandchild’s wedding. It was truly a perfect day for a perfect couple!
