Engaged couple kissing each other in front of Chicago Skyline in Winter

Tara and Clarence were planning a beautiful summer wedding in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, near the Grand Teton mountain range. However, because they are both Chicago natives and love the city during the winter, I was not surprised to learn they envisioned a Downtown Chicago winter engagement photography session.

To perfectly capture this couple’s love for winter and snow (and skiing!), we traveled to Downtown Chicago in the middle of a snowfall. In classic “Windy City” fashion, the wind did not fail to make an appearance as the snowflakes floated down from the quiet sky above. Tara and Clarence cozied up in their warm winter coats and hats and snuggled together for some beautiful photos. The cold never bothered them anyway!

We started Tara and Clarence’s Chicago winter engagement session at the famous Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue. From there, we headed to the Chicago Riverwalk, which had been converted into a beautiful winter wonderland. The steps nearby had nearly 20 inches of snow, making them practically invisible.

However, despite the large amounts of snow, the couple held each other’s hands and strolled down the walkways. Nothing—not even the bright, fluffy snow around them—could separate these two lovebirds.

Although I have long been a Chicago wedding photographer, I was still surprised by the lovely, romantic atmosphere the winter provided the city. These winter engagement photos warmed my heart and will certainly warm yours too. For more winter engagement photos, check out Anna and Francois-Marie’s Chicago winter photography session.

Stay tuned for Tara and Clarence’s summer mountain wedding photos, planned by my good friend Megan from North Shore Weddings and Events!
