While classic ballroom weddings are very popular in Chicago and are common for me to photograph as a Chicago wedding photographer, those type of weddings are certainly not for everyone. Couples who love the outdoors will be enchanted by the Chicago Botanic Garden. Couples will enjoy their summer garden wedding here. As a film wedding photographer I simply love beautiful outdoor weddings with lots of natural light. A Chicago Botanic Garden wedding will make for beautiful portraits with the gardens huge range of backdrops and its large premises. Erica & Lance chose the Helen and Richard Thomas English Walled Garden in the Chicago Botanic Garden for their intimate outdoor wedding ceremony backdrop. And indeed, their location made for incredible pictures. The English inspired pond with the water lilies and the typical stone walled architecture surrounding this garden took me back to my times in England. Once you step past the sleepy stone lion you can listen to the water trickle into an eighteenth-century lead cistern— a timeless feeling, which will take you to the past classics. There are six unique garden rooms, which create a different mood, featuring elements of English garden design through the centuries. The Cottage Garden has a sense of playfulness with its fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers while the wisteria-covered Pergola Garden evokes sense of romance with flowers and foliage in cool blues, purples, and silver.
The wedding of Erica & Lance, which you will see in my blog post here, is still one of my favorites to date. Erica’s classic and timeless taste shows throughout her whole wedding day – from her Vera Wang dress to her floral selection, ceremony & reception setup. Everything was planned to the T. And did you see the cute detail yet – the sofa? I loved playing around with this Chicago bride, her bridesmaids and her cute flower girl. One of my favorite setups! And it’s not only one of my favorites, but also Style Me Pretty’s. See Erica & Lance’s romantic and sophisticated Chicago Botanic Garden wedding here.
